This week, my interview is about "Ukraine Food". My interview partner is from Ukraine. In my impression, I have never come into contact with Ukraine food. So, I was focus on her country's food this week.
In the first interview, she told me that borsch is Ukraine's traditional food, she and her family love it. Borsch is a kind of soup originated from in Russia, like good homemade soup. Usually they use ketchup for main seasonings, put all kinds of vegetables, beef, and eat with bread. I asked her if she was trying to make it by herself? She said yes. And she told me that every family have different way to make it. Some people would like to put cabbage, some people would like to put potato. Even tomato, celery and onions. How are about her Mariya's own cookbook? She said usually she put the onion first, put celery until it distributing onion flavor. And then put the other food materials step by step. Finally she said maybe just mixed everything together! I was wondering how was the soup? She smiled and said you don't want to know this! She is humorous sometimes!
Everyone's dietary habit are different. To eat food with two different methods is interesting, but just one or two times. At most 10 times, that would be a "pain". So, Mariya will cook by herself in the boarding house, same as me. She likes cheese dumplings and pasta. she thought they are easy and fast to cook. At the end of the interview, I was inviting her to teach me how to make a original borsch, instead of my china version borsch!
